My wife had recently torn a muscle in her chest, so she asked me not to follow along with this DVD when she was around because it hurt when she laughed watching me.  Desi Bartlett leads two other women in 3 twenty-minute routines on a beach, each of them on a podium, with big pink square columns behind them and two potted cacti to decorate the scene.  The three sessions are devoted to cardio, strength, and flexibility.  Bartlett provides the option of instructions in English, Spanish, Spanglish (alternating between English and Spanish), or with just the electronic music in the background.  Bartlett has a cheerleader peppiness, telling she wants to see your big smile, and getting you to jump around and clap your hands.  Bartlett's voice is occasionally a little much to take with its enthusiastic tones.  The "Strength" workout is my favorite, since it provides a nice sequence of strengthening movements with one or two weights.  It is easy to follow and you can make it as difficult as you want.  The other two workouts were less well designed.  The "Flexibility" workout wasn't very challenging, and the "Cardio" workout was more difficult to follow, with lots of moving back and forth while waving your arms in the air and occasionally clapping.  Bartlett's explanations of how to do the different movements were sometimes not very helpful and they were not repeated enough times to get clear on how to do them before moving on to the next movement.  For people who are looking for a more girly workout, 3-in-1 Total Body Fitness might be worth checking out.  The production values are high with good camera work and clear sound.
